A 15-room Greek Revival and Italianate mansion built in 1859–60. William Hunter died of yellow fever just before work began, and his widow Amanda finished the house with local craftsmen and some of the family’s enslaved people. About 80 percent of her original furniture is still inside, and the house is furnished as it was in the 1860s to 1880s. Missouri State Parks gives tours.
